When, on May 13, 2016, Hassan Nasrallah, Secretary General of the Lebanese political and paramilitary party Hezbollah, was seen mourning the death of his senior militia commander Mustafa Badreddine, the Lebanese media reported on the story according to what they learned from Hezbollah about the circumstances of his demise. A few days later, questions about Hezbollah’s version of events arose.

Syrian Opposition Urges Russia to Break from its Alliance with Iran

INU - On Friday, The Iran Project highlighted a previous report by Russia’s Sputnik News on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s statements regarding Moscow’s relationship with Tehran. Generally speaking, relations between Russia and Iran have been growing closer throughout recent years, stoking the anxieties of some in the West who see this as a threat to American and European interests, and also as a possible preface to the emergence of a broader anti-Western coalition that could include China, North Korea, and other actual or potential Western adversaries.

New IRGC Provocations in the Persian Gulf

INU -On Monday, a Fox News report detailed some of the latest provocations to come out of the Islamic Republic of Iran at a time when there is a rising tide of rhetoric passing back and forth between it and its adversaries. The new situation has been largely attributed to the newfound American leadership being advanced in this area by US President Donald Trump. But the new American administration’s efforts to put Iran “on notice,” were explicitly based on longstanding Iranian activities that are considered illegal, destabilizing to the region, or both.

Tensions between Iran and Turkey escalate in post-ISIL power vacuum, analysts say

According to Turkish analysts, the extensive economic ties between Iran and Turkey make it unlikely that diplomatic tensions will result in an actual confrontation.

Atilla Yesilada, a political analyst with Istanbul's Global Source Partners, told Al Jazeera, "The tensions between Turkey and Iran did not appear out of the blue. This rivalry had been simmering beneath the surface for a very long time. Recent developments in Syria and Iraq simply forced the two countries to be more overtly aggressive against each other.”  Yesilada points to Syrian government's victory in Aleppo, in addition to the group ISIL or ISIS (the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant), having a diminishing presence in Iraq, as accelerating tensions between the rivals.

US policy changes after the Obama administration ended, as well as the extent of isolation and the global exclusion that the Iranian regime now labors under as a sponsor of terrorism, were the news topics that  state-run media affiliated with Rouhani wrote about recently. ”Undoubtedly, the Iranian regime has to accept the fact that the order of the world and the region has changed and a new form of alliance has been formed among the enemies of our country. We have solely encountered with a global alliance."
