A five-page French document, stamped as received by the Paris Administrative Court on 19 June 2026, revealed serious security concerns surrounding a major demonstration organised by supporters of the People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in Paris on 20 June 2026.

The document warned of two principal threats: possible attacks linked to the Iranian regime and escalating tensions between the PMOI and supporters of Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s former Shah.

According to the report, the demonstration, organised under the slogan “Neither Shah nor Mullahs”, was expected to attract Iranian opposition supporters from across Europe and beyond. The document also highlighted growing cooperation between the PMOI and representatives of Iranian ethnic minorities and other opposition groups.

Of particular concern were threats reportedly submitted to a French police reporting platform on 16 June, warning of a bomb attack if authorities permitted the demonstration to proceed. The messages featured symbols associated with SAVAK, the former Shah’s intelligence and security service.

The document also identified a monarchist activist who had allegedly encouraged supporters to obstruct the PMOI march and had shared disturbing firearms-related videos on social media.

Significantly, while the document suggested that these activities appeared connected to the monarchist opposition, it explicitly acknowledged another possibility: the threats could have originated with the Iranian regime through intermediary actors or proxies.

The report further recalled the foiled 2018 bombing plot against an Iranian opposition gathering near Paris, involving an Iranian diplomat subsequently prosecuted in Belgium, as evidence of the broader security risks facing Iranian dissidents abroad.

The document’s assessment underscores concerns about the potential intersection of Tehran’s operations against its opponents and intensifying rivalries within the Iranian opposition.
