Maryam Rajavi on International Women’s Day: Part 2

Maryam Rajavi: The anti-Iranian mullahs’ regime auctioned the resources and properties of the people of Iran in a 25-year contract with China.

President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi spoke out to the women of Iran earlier this month to commemorate International Women’s Day, addressing them warmly as her ‘sisters’. As she covered many topics in her address, this is the second part of her report.

Continuing with her praise of Iranian women, she stated that they are the standard-bearers of hope for the future and hope for freedom and equality, not only through their history of struggle against the regime but also in their present capability and potential.

Maryam Rajavi said, “One can see this potential in the all-women Central Council of the PMOI [People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran] which is leading a nationwide resistance against the mullahs’ ogre of suppression and misogyny.”

She said these brave women have continued to lead the movement proud and steadfast in Camp Ashraf and Camp Liberty accompanied by a generation of their brothers, sowing the seeds of protest to create a concrete sense of hope for freedom for the people of Iran.

Maryam Rajavi said, “There is also a long line of resistant and combatant women who are remaining steadfast in prisons across Iran…they are among the most resistant fighters and they are proud of it.”

She spoke of the protests that took place between December 2017 and January 2020, where women and youths were the pivotal force for change. Commanders of Khamenei’s IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) back then stated that women were the ringleaders who started the protests. In the uprising in November 2019, the state media and even the regime’s Minister of Interior seemed to be surprised to see that women were taking charge during the protests. In Tehran’s Sattari Highway, protests and chanting continued for seven hours, with women forming a human chain to block the highway towards the south.

Maryam Rajavi said, “The force of rebellion of that blood-drenched and fiery uprising in November 2019 lurks in the heart of Iranian society and erupts like a storm or a roaring flood at every opportunity. And again, it is the women of Iran who are standing in the eye of the storm in every upheaval and in every uprising.”

She noted that women are the prime victims of the poverty and suppression the country faces and they are committed to putting an end to the darkness the Iranian people are under. As the late great Iranian poet, Shamlou once said; “Night is not on our side, Tinder sits impatiently beside a candlewick, The rage of the street is in your fist, With the enlightened poem burnished on your lips, The night grows terrified of its own darkness.”

Maryam Rajavi said, “Yes, Iranian women who stare straight into this darkness say that we will sweep away this reactionary order. They tell the mullahs: ‘We will shatter this decrepit tower you have built on tinder boxes’. Our voice is no longer the voice of the oppressed, but the roar of a storm that will destroy reaction, oppression and misogyny.”
