At the beginning of September, the Iranian Resistance marked the 55th anniversary of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) with a special ceremony at Ashraf 3, Albania where over 3,000 MEK members are.

The ceremony was centered on a speech by Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajavi, which we will cover in this short series.

In this part, we will look at Maryam Rajavi’s comments on how the MEK’s Resistance Units have been sparking uprisings across Iran over the past three years. (To catch you up, the Resistance Units were formed in 2017 at the recommendation of MEK leader Massoud Rajavi in order to continue activism and lead the Iranian people’s uprising for freedom)

Maryam Rajavi began by talking about how the Resistance Units are “lighting the flames of the movement” and that the people are more prepared than ever to undertake an uprising that will overthrow the regime.

She said: “The volatile state of the society and the public awareness, particularly among the younger generation [means that] dozens of rebellious cities have the potential to liberate themselves from the clutches of the [Revolutionary Guards or] IRGC, which was proven during recent protests; hundreds of thousands of selfless youths across the country with incredible fighting spirits; and a liberating mechanism, the Resistance Units, who shatter the wall of repression and spark the uprisings.”

Maryam Rajavi praised the MEK for their commitment to democracy and freedom, whilst expressing her wish that the people and the Resistance Units will accomplish their goal of regime overthrow.

She then spoke about the efforts of other influential MEK officials, including MEK’s Secretary-General Zahra Merrikhi, citing that their selfless sacrifice towards the liberation of the Iranian people would one day pay off.

Maryam Rajavi said: “So, glad tidings to the people of Iran that today, the guarantee for their liberation from the clutches of this murderous and religious dictatorship is the PMOI/MEK. Only this selfless, cohesive, enlightened, and honest organization can guarantee for the day after the overthrow and the free Iran of tomorrow, for resorting trust in the oppressed people and for bringing freedom, prosperity, welfare, and health to the Iranian people.”

She assured us that the Iranian people are suffering under the mullahs’ rule – facing suppression, torture, disease, and poverty, but they also have brave warriors ready to fight their cause to the end. This will bring equality, social justice, people’s sovereignty, and other essential freedoms to every Iranian, regardless of religion gender, race, or nationality; giving them pride in their country and their government once more.

Maryam Rajavi said: “That day is near. The Iranian people have an organization and a precious treasure which for the past five decades has not abandoned the idea of liberating the people of Iran in the face of fierce storms, difficulties, and pain, and has overcome all the obstacles and difficulties. Certainly, the PMOI/MEK will also accomplish this great commitment and for doing so, it is more than ever prepared.”
