General Salim Edris, who left the Syrian Army on 20 August 2012, is 56 years old and has been the commander of the Free Syrian Army since September 2012. Edris is fluent in five languages and has a doctorate degree in radar electronics. These changes are taking place while, according to Syrian Human Rights Organization: “The number of those killed in Syria has passed 140,000 people. Among them there are 7,000 children and 5,000 women. This report does not include the 180,000 people who have disappeared and are in Syrian regime’s prisons.” The Free Syrian Army hopes to bring its fight with the criminal regime in Syria to new heights following these changes.
