Khamenei’s Concern About Iran’s Economic Situation: The Truth

Khamenei bans Covid-19 vaccines, sets stage for a catastrophe

Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, in a recent televised speech, tried to downplay the country’s current crises. Having previously dismissed the coronavirus crisis, claiming that it was not a big issue, he warned that the situation is now more dangerous than it was last year in his recent remarks.

During the speech, he appeared to shed fake tears in his attempt to show empathy with the Iranian people’s harsh economic problems and their struggle to afford goods at skyrocketing prices.

Khamenei said: “Unfortunately, the living conditions of the people are not good today! This is a great sorrow for us.”

He failed to mention that he main cause of the country’s problems is the regime’s corrupt system and instead blamed “unknown dealers and intermediaries”. By downplaying the reality of the issues faced by society, he shows the regime’s fear of the explosive state of the country’s population, many of whom live below the poverty line.

Inside Ali Khamenei’s Economic Empire in Iran

Rising inflation, a huge budget deficit, government corruption, embezzlement, the free fall of the national currency value, and rising unemployment due to the closure of at least 2,000 factories are just a few examples of how the mullahs have managed to destroy Iran’s economy.

Even the regime’s state-run media has revealed facts of the bitter reality that society is facing.

The daily, Kar va Kargar, wrote on March 2: “Iranian workers receive the lowest wages in the world. The minimum wage in 2020 was $110, and in February 2020 it decreased to $100, which is one-third of the wages in 2015-2016, a fifth of what it was in 2010, and at its lowest in the last three decades.”

Another daily, Resalat, also revealed on March 2 that some people can’t even afford to buy bread and items like chicken and eggs are considered luxury goods. Even worse, housing prices have increased by 79%.

One of the regime’s economists was quoted in the daily Jahan-e Sanat on February 27 saying: “In the last 15 years, the misery index in Iran is triple the global average and only Venezuela is more miserable than Iran.”

The regime has continuously plundered the wealth of the Iranian people and the country’s national resources, leaving them nothing. It is said that the economy is in the hands of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and billions of the country’s money has been spent supporting proxy wars in the Middle East rather than domestically.
