Iran: A Newspaper Editor Was Arrested;

Asia newspaper reported: “Iraj Jamshidi, this morning when leaving his home was detained for unspecified reasons by unknown people.” Iran’s security and police agencies haven’t yet announced any reason for arresting Asia newspaper editor.

Iraj Jamshidi had been arrested earlier in July 2003, following the publication of a photograph of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the Iranian Resistance in his newspaper. 

He had been then charged on measures such as acting against national security, providing information to foreign countries, disrupting the country’s economic system, insulting regime’s founder Khomeini, bribery, publishing lies and disturbing public opinion. Mr. Jamshidi was released on bail on July 2004. after serving one year in jail.
