Iranian People Welcome Sanctions Against Regime

US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin said these sanctions would “lock up literally billions of dollars of assets” and block Khamenei and his closest advisers from accessing the American financial system or any American assets. It would also impose sanctions on any foreign financial institution that conducts transactions for those sanctioned.

This will significantly limit the amount of money that Iran has to spend on supporting terrorists and their other malign behaviour, so these sanctions are far from just symbolic.

Struan Stevenson, the coordinator of the Campaign for Iran Change, wrote: “Iran, despite its rich, civilized and open culture, has now become an international pariah, its religious fascist regime condemned for human rights abuse and the export of terror, while its 80 million beleaguered citizens, over half of whom are under 30, struggle to feed their families against a background of power outages, water shortages and food prices that have risen by more than 80 per cent.”

The economy is now in chaos with inflation officially reaching 52% in May, but the country’s crisis can be directly traced to Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani’s policy of aggressive military expansionism, which has drained Iran’s resources while lining the pockets of the mullahs.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo once said: “To the regime, prosperity, security and freedom for the Iranian people are acceptable casualties in the march to fulfil the revolution.”

But the mullahs are more concerned with riches than religion, so they do whatever it takes to increase their wealth at great detriment to the people.

The Iranian people know this, which is why they’ve been taking part in a major uprising across the country for the past 18 months. They clearly and consistently demand regime change by and for the people of Iran in protests organised by the Iranian Resistance group, the People’s Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI/MEK), which is the democratic alternative to the Regime.

The Iranian people want change and they know it cannot be delivered by the mullahs, so the welcome Trump’s sanctions against their corrupt rulers and urge the rest of the world to come on board. This will weaken the Regime and strengthen the people.
