Kurdish Porters Continue to Be Killed and Injured by Regime Agents

INU - The Iranian regime has been targeting religious and ethnic minorities for many years. It has been reported that in the past few weeks, a number of Kurdish porters have been killed or injured by regime agents.

Sources concerned with human rights have said that porters have been fired at by agents of the notorious Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). A number of porters have been killed and dozens have been injured.

INU - At least 10 activists in Mashhad, northeast Iran, have been arrested for protesting the 13-year jail sentence handed down to activist Kamal Jafari Yazdi.

Jafari was one of 14 activists who called for Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to resign and make way for a new political order to replace the Regime. He was arrested on August 2018 and sentenced in April 2019.

INU - Massud Mossaheb, an Austrian-Iranian 72-year-old, was arrested in Iran earlier this year. He is the general secretary of the Austrian-Iranian Society which is said to work towards better relations between the two countries.

The Austrian foreign ministry has confirmed that he is being detained in Iran. A ministry spokesperson said that the country is aware of the case and is calling for Massud Mossaheb’s immediate release.

INU - On Sunday 28th July, Leila Hosseinzadeh, an anthropology student at the University of Tehran, was arrested by intelligence agents.

Leila Hosseinzadeh had been appealing a two-and-a-half-year sentence that she was given after being arrested in 2018. She was the secretary of Tehran University students’ central council and was arrested for participating in the major protests that took place across the country in December 2017 and January 2018.

Iran: Prisoner Commences Hunger Strike in Protest Against Corporal Punishment Sentence

INU - A Kurdish singer that has been sentenced to 100 lashed and two years imprisonment has started a hunger strike. Peyman Mirzazadeh is being held in Urmia Prison in the north-western part of the country.

He was sentenced by the 110th Branch of the Urmia Public Court to 20 lashes for consuming alcohol and two years imprisonment and 80 lashes for “blasphemy”.
