Iran: Prisoner Commences Hunger Strike in Protest Against Corporal Punishment Sentence

INU - A Kurdish singer that has been sentenced to 100 lashed and two years imprisonment has started a hunger strike. Peyman Mirzazadeh is being held in Urmia Prison in the north-western part of the country.

He was sentenced by the 110th Branch of the Urmia Public Court to 20 lashes for consuming alcohol and two years imprisonment and 80 lashes for “blasphemy”.

It was reported on Thursday that after being denied asylum in Germany, a 58-year-old Iranian convert to Christianity was immediately arrested upon being deported back to Iran. Fatemeh Azad fled to the West in 2015 with her three sons, and although two of them were granted asylum, her own application was denied in May. Her third son is also at risk of deportation, and consequently of arrest in a country where converting from Islam to any other religion is a criminal offense.

INU - The Iranian regime’s security forces in the impoverished Sistan and Baluchistan Province opened fire on a vehicle carrying fuel and killed the driver and the passenger.

According to Iranian human rights activists, on Sunday, July 21, 2019, two Iranian Baluch citizens were killed on the road between Khash and Saravan after security forces opened fire on their car which was carrying fuel.
