Iran: 3 prisoners die in a week due to lack of medical care

NCRI - At least three prisoners in Iran have lost their lives in past week for being deprived of receiving timely medical care.

On Wednesday, August 13, 2014, prisoner Mohammad Bibyan suffered a heart attack in the main prison in city of Bandar Abbas, southern Iran. The prisoner died as authorities refused to act to provide him with timely medical treatment.

On Monday 8 August, and on Friday, 11 August, Mohammad Amiri and Reza Karami lost their lives due to lack of medical care in Ghezel Hessar Prison of the central city of Karaj.

The prison authorities often deprive inmates in general and political prisoners in particular, of medical services as a mean to make them given in to their demands.

Preventing these crimes requires decisive and strong action by the international community and human rights organizations to bring the regimes officials to justice and accountability for their crimes.
