INU – Three family members of Ali Saremi, a political prisoner executed in Iran in 2010, have been arrested by the regime’s intelligence ministry.
Hassan Saremi and his two children, Hamed and Shahla – who have no history of political activities – have been arrested and transferred to ward 209 of Evin Prison.
Security forces also searched Mr Saremi’s house and workplace and confiscated his personal belongings.
The wife of 31-year-old Hamed Saremi, 31, who has a master’s degree in industrial management said she had made repeated inquiries to officials about her husband and his sister Shahla Saremi 28, a student majoring in industry.
But she had only been given ‘very limited information’ about their whereabouts since they were arrested 20 days ago, it was reported.
It has also been 6 months since Reza Akbari Monfared was arrested on groundless charges, with the intelligence ministry refuses to give information to his family.
His sister Maryam Akbari Monfared has also been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Both have family members among the PMOI in Camp Liberty.
Political prisoners Shabnam and Farzad Maddadzadeh – who also have family members in Liberty – have also been banned from visiting each other for one year, despite a law granting prisoners the right to visit each other every month are allowed to visit each other every month.
