To confront the regime’s dictatorship as the main source of regional crises and instability, the sanctions are a necessary measure but they need to be coupled by designating the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist entity and expelling it from the Middle East region.
According to an article published on July 18th, by the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), “The IRGC serves as the guarantee to preserve the entirety of the religious fascism ruling Iran and is the main entity responsible for domestic suppression, the export of terrorism and extremism, and obtaining weapons of mass destruction, namely nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.”
A majority of the populace of Iran, and of the surrounding region, demand that the IRGC be designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) and that it be expelled specifically from Syria and Iraq. This designation is a prerequisite to ending conflict and crisis in the Middle East.
Two years after the nuclear agreement between the Iranian regime and world powers, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Program of Action (JCPOA), it is apparent that the concessions provided to the Iranian regime have allowed it to continue its suppressive policies at home, intensify its meddling in the region, and pursue the expansion and testing of ballistic missiles in defiance of the UN Security Council resolutions. Meanwhile,the Iranian people’s welfare has not improved over the past two years. The assets that were unfrozen as par too the nuclear deal have been used for repression at home and the meddling activities in Iraq, Syrian, and Yemen.
Regarding the regime, a firm approach is the only correct policy. Iran is known as the world’s most active state sponsor of terrorism and extremism.
On July 1st in Paris a major gathering of the Iranian resistance drew tens of thousands of supporters, both from the Iranian diaspora and from the international community. High level officials from the US, the UK and the EU, as well from Saudi Arabia spoke in support of the aspirations of the Iranian people and the growing resistance movement.
