Iran: 58 Workplace-Related Deaths in Eastern Azerbaijan

The public relations department of Iran’s forensic authority reported in 2002 that there were 461 workplace-related deaths; this figure ballooned to 1508 deaths in 2011 and 1795 in 2012. This year, deaths jumped 19.1%. From 2002 to 2012 there were 9625 people killed in workplace accidents. 2012 was dubbed the “deadliest year for laborers”.
