The Regime’s official news agency, IRNA, announced on Monday, April 15, that these “major structures” included the Zomorrod (Emerald) or Talaeyyeh (the Golden Place) leisure and entertainment complex that is owned by the police and security forces.
The three-story complex, which includes a wedding hall, restaurants, and reception halls, was opened on December 20, 2018, less than three months before the flooding began.
IRNA reported that the police had placed two cargo containers on the side of a floodgate, even though an excavator should always have been there to prevent the conduit from shutting down in case of a flood, like the ones that began in mid-March.
The report goes on to say that a mound, known as Khakreez, which was created by the army to be used in training exercises, also helped the flash floods to accumulate and intensified the flow of water.
The flash flood, triggered by heavy rains on Monday, March 25, around the “Quran Gate” area, killed at least 22 people and caused intense damage to property.
Meanwhile, the government response to the disaster has been terrible. Instead of sending in relief workers or providing shelter for those made homeless, the Iranian Regime has instead sent in their proxy militia and the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), which was recently designated as a terror group by the US, in order to suppress the people’s legitimate anger about the situation.
The IRGC is one of the most destructive organisations in Iran and in the word in general, with an anti-people and anti-Iranian focus. They did not rescue people, despite having the necessary equipment. Instead, they broke down flood barriers erected by the Iranian people because the barriers would have diverted waters towards IRGC-controlled businesses, rather than the people’s homes.
The IRGC is the guardian of the Regime and has almost unchecked power within Iran. Thus, when the Iranian people and the Resistance overthrow the mullahs, the IRGC will be the first thing that is crushed.
