Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani in a meeting with judiciary officials in response to the report of the Special Rapporteur for Human Rights, called the West barbarian and brutal.

He added: There are governments supported by the US who may not have witnessed an election in their life and history and then they claim they are defending human rights.

On the criticism in the human rights reports pertaining to existence of the death penalty in Iran, while justifying it Larijani said: The death penalty exists in many countries’ laws, but they are not faced with such pressures.

Regarding the draft new report of the Special Rapporteur on human rights in Iran, mullahs’ Chief Justice elaborated, the report claims judges in Iran make decisions solely based on the reports of security organizations, but this claim is essentially a lie. The meaning of this claim is that in Judiciary, various judges in the courts don’t make any investigations of their own.

The Judiciary chief, while pointing out that most of the issues in the human rights reports about Iran are generally based on “the statements of anti-revolutionaries and opponents of the Islamic Republic”, indicated “natural and sensible expectation from any Rapporteur is that he is impartial, while human rights reports about Iran gives unilaterally a false image of the country and Islamic system”.
