Iran: Police arrest 52 in raid on ‘mixed gender’ party

The city’s deputy police chief Abolfazl Sar-Zaeem told a state-run website: “The State Security Forces went to the location along with members of Basij. They entered the place and arrested the 18 women and 34 men attending the mixed gender party and transferred them to the police headquarters.

“According to the investigation, one of those arrested was the host while others had received invitations from the man. They had come to the party without knowing each other or having met the man,” he said.

The report on the raid comes after Iran’s Deputy Chief of Police Brigadier-General Ahmad-Reza Radan plans on Tuesday for a stricter ‘moral security plan’ to suppress women and youths.
