In its latest report, the World Bank published the status of broadband internet by country in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA); Iran ranked last among these countries. The MENA region includes Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Djibouti, Yemen, Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Syria, Tunisia, Morocco, Palestine, Lebanon, Oman and Jordan.
The state-run Tabnak website wrote on February 27th: “In the World Bank report, access to internet with broadband was studied. According to this report, only 12% of Iranian households have access to internet with broadband. This is while Bahrain, United Arab Emirates and Qatar have the most households connected with 88%, 69% and 66%, respectively.
