Hardline Authorities and Pro-Democracy Activists both Reject Iran’s “Reformists”

On Thursday, Al Monitor published an article that put forward the claim that the so-called reformist movement in mainstream Iranian politics is “on its deathbed” in the midst of increased pressure from the US following President Trump’s withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear deal. Although the article did not attribute the collapse of the Iranian political faction to such outside factors, it did suggest that the recent and forthcoming re-impositions of US sanctions were exacerbating national crisis for which the Reform movement has failed to provide meaningful solutions.

INU - The Iranian people have nothing to lose, so nothing can stop them protesting the Regime that has robbed them of their money, their families, and their freedom.

The Iranian people have been taking to the streets in a mass protest since December and despite the mullahs’ crackdown, which left at least 50 dead and 8,000 arrested and facing the death penalty in the first few weeks, the protesters are still coming out en masse to call for regime change.

Soon the mullahs in Iran won’t be able to stop the protesters and regime change will be a reality, something which many in the West doubted as little as a year ago.
