On Tuesday, around 1,000 Haft Tapeh sugar cane workers protested non-payment of their 6-month salaries, and confronted the police forces.

The law enforcement officers attacked the workers with tear gas to prevent the spread of this protest.

After the clash, law enforcement officers arrested 15 protesting workers on Tuesday.

On Wednesday July 27, 2017, following the arrests, other workers gathered once again in protest in the factory’s site and in addition to demand their previous claims, sought information about the situation of their arrested colleagues.

Workers have said they will continue their protest if their colleagues are not freed, and to pursue vigorously their rightful claims.
