Iran: People march in protest to irreparable damage to country’s water resources

People of Shahr-e Kord (a city in western Iran) staged a rally and a protest march as reported by regime’s news agencies. The protest had been called for in advance to protest the transfer of water of Zayandehrood River(Isfahan) and construction of a tunnel called Golab-Behesht. The water of Zayandehrood, as one of the principle rivers of the country, is about to dry out due to inexpert policies. If this environmental catastrophe happens, it will cause great damage to the people of Esfahan, as well as the neighboring provinces.

On Thursday, the bazaar intersection of Shahr-e Kord was at the center of this march. Days prior to the protest, people used internet, flyers and banners in cities around the province to call people to participate in the protest. The state-run IRNA news agency was compelled to report this great gathering and it wrote that the bazaar intersection of Shahr-e Kord was blocked.

Experts have declared that building the tunnels that reach underground waters in the Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari Province(west Iran) would cause irreparable damage to this province.
