On Sunday, November 6, 2022, citizens of Marivan, Kurdistan province, turned a funeral ceremony into a revolutionary momentum. Authorities beat Nasrin Ghaderi, a 35-year-old Ph.D. in philosophy at Tehran University, to death in the capital on November 4.

Fearing public anger, authorities secretly transferred and buried the late Nasrin in a local cemetery early morning. However, many citizens attended the place, paying homage to her despite the regime’s propaganda and misinformation campaign. Rebellious youths also took over the streets, chanting: “Death to Khamenei” and “Death to the dictator!”

Furthermore, university and school students continued anti-regime protests in various cities. “Death to the dictator,” “This is the year of [Khamenei] overthrow,” and “[Khamenei] is a murderer; his rule is illegitimate.” They also announced that the universities would be shut down if the regime suspended even one student.

November 4 marked the 50th day of anti-regime protests in Iran. The demonstrations began following the heinous murder of Mahsa Amini, 22, in police custody. However, it immediately turned into a revolution against the entire theocratic regime.

According to the Iranian opposition Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK/PMOI), the protests have extended to 216 cities. The regime has killed more than 530 citizens, injured tens of thousands, and detained over 25,000. The MEK has published the names of 358 killed protesters.
