On Monday, November 7, 2022, citizens of Siahkal, Gilan province, turned a commemoration ceremony into a full-scale fight against authorities. In addition to locals, Lahijan citizens attended the event, paying homage to the late Erfan Zamani, 37, killed by security forces in Lahijan on November 3.
Authorities sealed the city from early morning, creating checkpoints at the entrance gates and inspecting citizens to strike fear into society. However, defiant youths honored the late Erfan with anti-regime slogans such as “Death to Khamenei,” “Death to the dictator,” “This is the year of [Khamenei] overthrow,” etc.
To quell protests, oppressive forces opened fire on the crowd, injuring several people. However, citizens continued protests with the hit-and-run tactic and exhausted the regime’s forces.
November 7 marked the 53rd day of anti-regime protests in Iran. The demonstrations began following the heinous murder of Mahsa Amini, 22, in police custody. However, it immediately turned into a revolution against the entire theocratic regime.
According to the Iranian opposition Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK/PMOI), the protests have extended to 216 cities. The regime has killed more than 550 citizens, injured tens of thousands, and detained over 30,000. The MEK has published the names of 368 killed protesters.
As of 10:00 pm Tehran time on November 7, protests in #Iran have expanded to 216 cities.
