Wednesday, October 26, marked the 41st day of nationwide Iran protests against the regime. Commemorating the late Mahsa Amini’s demise, thousands of citizens attended her grave in Aichi cemetery, Saqqez. Simultaneously, students, merchants, physicians, and people from different walks of life went on strike.

Commemorating Mahsa Amini with Freedom, Freedom

“Freedom, freedom, freedom,” “This is the year of Seyyed Ali [Khamenei] overthrow,” “We’re all Mahsa and fight to the end,” “Death to the regime for decades of crime,” “Kurdistan is the fascists’ grave,” “Death to the child-killing regime,” “Imprisoned teachers must be freed,” and “From Kurdistan to Tehran, my life for Iran,” chanted attendees.

Tehran Citizens Turn Tehran into Battlefield Against the Regime

In Tehran, citizens took to the streets in various districts. According to obtained reports, the people continued anti-regime demonstrations in Amirabad, Sadeghiyeh, Mirdamad, Punak, Kuy-e Daneshgah, Ferdows Blvd, Shahrak-e Gharb, Farjam St, Sardar-e Jangal, and other districts.

Protesters turned Tehran’s streets into a battlefield against the regime, seizing the opportunity of the mullahs’ weakness everywhere, including metro stations, chanting:

Death to [Supreme Leader Ali] Khamenei!

Death to the dictator!

Death to [Khamenei] for decades of crime!

This is the year of Seyyed Ali [Khamenei] overthrow!

Death to the child-killing regime!

Death to the oppressor; be it the Shah or [Khamenei]!

 

Regime Forces Shoot Protesting Physicians and Dentists

Today morning, dozens of physicians and dentists rallied outside the Medical Apparatus Organization in Amirabad St. In solidarity with the nationwide protests, doctors chanted anti-regime slogans, including “Death to Khamenei,” “Mullahs must get lost,” and “Death to the dictator.”

The regime immediately deployed anti-riot forces and plainclothes agents to the place. Authorities mercilessly shot birdshot and teargas at protesters, leaving several injured.

Amirabad residents took to the streets in support of physicians. They blocked the streets, chanting, “Death to Khamenei,” “Death to the dictator,” and “Death to [Khamenei] for years of crime.”

Merchants Are on Strike Across Iran

Furthermore, merchants are on strike in various cities. Footage from Saqqez, Sanandaj, Marivan, Bukan, Dehgolan, Divandarreh, Javanrud, etc. shows shopkeepers shutting down their businesses in honor of Mahsa Amini and the nationwide protests.

Reports from Tehran, Rasht, Shiraz, Mashhad, Bushehr, Kerman, Isfahan, and many other cities indicated merchants are on strike. In Tehran, businesspeople took to the streets in major markets of Lalehzar, Cheragh Bargh, Jomhuri St, and Greater Tehran Bazaar. They blocked the streets and chanted anti-regime slogans.

In addition to merchants, Tehran Petrochemical Plant employees joined the nationwide strike today.

College and School Students Continue Protests

Moreover, university students held protesting rallies in various cities, including Najafabad, Semnan, Isfahan, Zahedan, Karaj, Kerman, Tehran, Shiraz, Mashhad, Rasht, Hamedan, Qom, and Qazvin.

“Death to Khamenei,” “Khamenei is a murderer,” “Freedom, freedom, freedom,” “Mullahs must get lost,” Death to the dictator,” and “Death to [Khamenei] for decades of crime,” chanted students. They also destroyed regime officials’ icons in universities.

Judiciary Sentences Harsh Punishments Against Detained Protesters

Courageous Iranians have been taking to the streets for weeks. The protests have now reached numerous cities and universities, while the regime’s response has become increasingly violent. It is high time for real solidarity with the protesters that goes beyond mere rhetoric in Europe and the U.S.

What is happening in Tehran and other cities in Iran is being flanked with sluggish attention in Europe, particularly in politics. And the EU has not become more creative in its instruments to support the Iranian people and confront the regime.

Protesters arrested in Iran face the death penalty. More than 300 people have been charged in the capital Tehran for taking part in the anti-government protests.

According to Ali Salehi, a Tehran prosecutor quoted by the justice portal Misan Online, some of them must expect to be sentenced to death. Accordingly, ‘four rioters’ are accused of the crime of ‘war against God’ (Moharebeh), which can be punished with the death penalty.

Many students are among those arrested. ‘They turned Tehran into a prison and Evin prison into a university,’ students chanted in a recent video on social media, before an unexplained fire broke out right there over the weekend.

Salehi said the defendants were also charged with ‘using a weapon to terrorize society and people, injuring security officials, burning and destroying state property with the aim of attacking the sacred system of the Islamic Republic of Iran.’

A total of 315 people were accused of ‘assembling and colluding against the security of the country,’ ‘propaganda’ against state power, and ‘disturbing public order.’
