Iranian Citizens Fearlessly Protest the Regime – Day 34

Iranian citizens fearlessly continue anti-regime protests for day 34 despite the regime's oppressive measures and propaganda campaigns.

On Wednesday, October 19, 2022, citizens in Iran resumed nationwide protests against the regime for day 34. According to reports tallied by the Iran News Update, college and school students rallied across the country.

The anti-regime demonstrations continue despite the regime’s atrocities and bloodshed. The Iranian opposition Mojahedin-e Khalq (MEK) reports security forces have killed at least 400 citizens.

Authorities have injured thousands of protesters and bystanders and arbitrarily arrested more than 20,000. Instead, the people fearlessly take to the streets every night, targeting dictator Ali Khamenei in their slogans.

Roundup of October 19th Protests

Protests Continue in Tehran

Residents continue protests in various districts across the capital Tehran. Field reports say demonstrators resist security forces’ attacks in Narmak, Valiasr, Enghelab, Jomhuri, Behboudi, and Ekbatan districts.

Footage shows residents of Darband, Zafar, and Shamsabad chanting “Death to the dictator,” referring to Khamenei. Videos from Ekbatan town indicate protesters resist oppressive forces’ attack via teargas and gunfire.

Protests Continue in Western Iran

Defiant protesters also took to the streets in Sanandaj, Dehgolan, Kamyaran, and Divandarreh in Kurdistan province. Outraged citizens also liberated several streets in Kermanshah and its neighborhood.

Citizens in Ilam conflicted with oppressive forces and took over several streets despite authorities’ merciless suppression. Darrehshahr citizens also joined the nationwide protests against the regime.

Schoolchildren took to the streets in Tehran, Sanandaj, western Iran, and Arak, central, chanting anti-regime slogans. Furthermore, college students resumed anti-regime rallies in Kermanshah, Tehran, and Zahedan.

In Zahedan, south-eastern Iran, students of the Medical Sciences University held a rally, chanting: From Zahedan to Tehran, my life for Iran. They also refused to attend classes in solidarity with other students across the country.

Notably, the regime’s propaganda frequently lay false accusations of separatism on ethnic minorities, including Baluchi, Arab, and Kurdish citizens. Instead, these minorities insist on their dependency on their homeland Iran, chanting: Mullahs must get lost.

Last night, Arab citizens in Ahvaz, southwestern Iran, chanted, “From Ahvaz to Tehran, my life for Iran,” refusing the regime’s misinformation campaign.

Students of the Razi University in Kermanshah, western Iran, also joined demonstrations. “This country would never be revived before removing the mullahs,” they chanted. Remarkably, Kermanshah is one of the country’s Kurdish provinces.

Merchants Continue Strike in Solidarity with Nationwide Protests

Footage from various cities shows merchants have remained on strike in support of the nationwide protests against the regime. Despite hard living conditions, shopkeepers in Mahabad and Bukan, northwestern Iran, continued the strike.

“In similar reports of protests, workers of the Haft Tappeh Sugar Cane Company in the city of Shush, Khuzestan Province, and petrochemical employees in the city of Asaluyeh, Hormorzgan Province, went on strike,” the MEK official website reported. “Other reports showed the drivers of fuel trucks associated with the Abadan Refinery went on strike on Monday.”

Recently footage obtained by the Iran News Update shows that anti-regime demonstrations continued last night despite the regime’s brutality.

In Tehran, defiant protesters bravely confronted fully-armed security forces in the Parand district.

Furthermore, citizens chanted “Death to Khamenei” and “Death to the dictator” slogans in Saadatabad, Ekbatan, Gisha, and Tehransar districts. In Ekbatan, security forces fired teargas into the residents’ homes to quell them.

These protests began following the death of Mahsa Amini. Mahsa (Zhina) Amini, a 22-year-old woman from the city of Saqqez in Kurdistan Province, western Iran, who traveled to Tehran with her family, was arrested on Tuesday, September 13, at the entry of Haqqani Highway by the regime’s so-called “Guidance Patrol” and transferred to the “Moral Security” agency.

She was brutally beaten by the morality police and died of her wounds in a Tehran hospital on September 16. The event triggered protests that quickly spread across Iran and rekindled the people’s desire to overthrow the regime.

As protests surpass day 34th, the regime faces a significant wave of defection among Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) paramilitary Basij forces.
State-run media implicitly leaks the regime has failed to mobilize new forces for suppression, resorting to proxy groups such as Lebanese Hezbollah, Iraqi militias, Afghani Fatemiyoun, and Pakistani Zeynabiyoun.
