On Monday, February 1, Iranian citizens from different walks of life held at least five rallies in front of government offices, protesting the regime’s failure to resolve people’s dilemmas.

Shareholders, oil workers, daily workers, social activists, and home buyers organized these gatherings. Citizens blamed officials for failing to keep their promises and refusing to answer people’s basic problems.

Eastern Azarbaijan province—shareholders of Jamaran Housing Cooperative held a rally in front of Tabriz Municipality. They protested Municipality officials for failing to keep their promises.

“Death to the imprudent officials” and “[Deputy Mayor Rassoul] Mousaei shame on you! Keep your promises,” protesters chanted, venting their anger at the officials and their disastrous performance.

Bushehr province—temporary-contract workers affiliated with the Organization of Pars Energy Special Economic Zone held a rally in front of the organization’s gate. They protested over low salaries and the Oil Company and the Oil Ministry’s indifference toward workers’ living conditions.

Previously, the government had issued several directives for improving temporary-contract workers’ living conditions. However, administrative apparatuses do not care about these instructions, and the workers believe they are likely a publicity stunt to quell workers’ protests rather than resolving their dilemmas.

Sistan and Baluchestan province—a group of daily workers in Zahedan city, the provincial capital, held a rally in front of the local Social Security Office. They protested the government’s failure to improve their working and living conditions.

They carried a big placard, reading, “The cry of hungry workers.” They also blamed officials for indifference toward their economic and livelihood dilemmas. “We are unemployed” and “The revolution of hungry people,” they had written on small banners.

Western Azarbaijan province—a group of social and media activists rallied in front of the Dr. Mehrzad hospital in Urmia. They protested the government for naming a public hospital after a government official.

“This hospital has been built by a public budget. Why did you name it after the family name of an official?” They also held handwritten papers, reading, “Do not name public properties after your relatives,” “Putting the name of officials on public properties is forbidden,” and “A public hospital is not a family legacy.”

Razavi Khorasan—a group of home buyers of Golbahar Maskan-e Mehr in Mashhad held a rally in front of the Cooperation, Labor, and Social Welfare Office. They protested officials for failing to clarify the houses’ conditions after 13 years.

Protesters blamed Mashhad’s Cooperation office’s failure to deliver pre-purchased houses after many years. They also vented their anger over the regime’s refusal to respond to protesters’ demands.
