In a report titled “Bandar Abbas taken by dust” on Tuesday November 22, the Revolutionary Guard’s Fars news agency admits the air pollution in the city, writing: “ (bad) weather conditions due to a very heavy polluted dust in most cities of the province forced the schools at all levels to cancel their yesterday and today’s morning and evening classes, and also made it difficult for light and heavy vessels to move towards the islands in the province.”
The news agency quotes the General Manager of Hormozgan’s airports as saying that “due to bad weather conditions, 44 flights from Bandar Abbas to Tehran, Shiraz, Kish, Mashhad, Isfahan, Dubai, Sari, Chabahar, Tabriz, Ahvaz and Rasht have been cancelled from yesterday November 21 until now.”
Mahmoud Amani Bani said that: “following an increase in the amount of dust, all flights from Bandar Abbas will be delayed until further notice and improved weather conditions, and even cancelled if the weather conditions remain unstable.”
The General Manager of Hormozgan’s airports said that “we will have another round of increased dust from Wednesday which is expected to continue until next Saturday.”
It should be pointed out that the air quality in Bandar Abbas on Monday November 21 was in dangerous and critical condition with the dust being eight times more than the environmental standard, so that according to Majid Vafadar, Director General of the Department of Environment, the horizontal viewing was decreased to less than 100 meters.
