Terrorist Attack on Camp Hurriya in Iraq

The United States condemns in the strongest terms today’s rocket attack at Camp Hurriya that has reportedly killed and injured camp residents and also injured Iraqi police officers. Our condolences go out to the families of the victims and we hope for the swift recovery of those injured.

Hours after the missile attack on Camp Liberty, which has left three residents killed and more than 50 others wounded so far, Watheq al-Battat, a notorious terrorist, who is merely a functionary of [Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri] al-Maliki, accepted responsibility for this assault. 

Abbas Namvar, Mahmoud Borna-far and Mohammad-javad Saleh-tehrani  , three members of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) were killed in the 26 December attack on Camp Liberty.

As of 10:00 pm Baghdad local time, Bijan Tehrani, and  Mahmoud Bornafar two of martyrs of the missile attack on Camp Liberty were identified.

Mullahs’ regime official news agency (IRNA) reported from Baghdad on Wednesday, December 25, quoting an Iraqi “knowledgeable official” that the body of Niknam (Mohammad Ratebi), one of the seven hostages abducted in Ashraf on September 1, is in Baghdad and in the hands of Government of Iraq and among other victims. The said official described “Niknam” as PMOI strategist.
