Insider news & Analysis in Iran

INU - A banner of President-elect of the Iranian Resistance Maryam Rajavi has been displayed in Tehran  in defiance of the regime's strict ban on opposition 'propaganda'.

The image hung from  "Zeino Din"  highway bridge displayed the slogan, 'My vote is overthrow, our president is Maryam Rajavi'.

It is part of a swathe of anti-regime graffiti, posters and leaflets springing up across the country just a week before the presidential election.

Slogans criticizing the elitist rulers have also appeared on walls, subway stations and parks, with may reading 'Spoil the mullahs’ elections', 'Down with the principle of Velayat Faqieh', 'Viva National Liberation Army of Iran' and 'Down with Khamenei, Viva Rajavi'.

The activities are continuing despite the risk of arrest and imprisonment for activists and in defiance of intensive security measures in place to avoid a repeat of the massive public uprisings during the 2009 election.

The state-run Fars news agency wrote recently: "The PMOI (MEK) has experience of rebellion, unrest and sabotage from the incidents following the 2009 election.

"Now they are attempting to organise more unrest in the 2013 presidential election. They are doing everything in their power to deepen the rifts within the regime. They are drawing on the media, social networks, websites and weblogs."

The same agency has also reported that the regime has initiated a vast assault over recent weeks on the sympathizers of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran, family members of Ashraf and Liberty residents, released political prisoners, and institutions connected with the PMOI (MEK) and its supporters.
