NCRI - Romanian MPs have called for the immediate release of the Camp Ashraf hostages taken captive during the September 1 massacre and demanded that the international community act urgently to protect all Iranian dissidents in Iraq.
The Romania delegation at a Paris conference on October 19, that included MPs Romeo Nicoara, Maria Grecea and Ovidiu Ioan Dumitru, also called for an end to the Iranian nuclear weapons project and the toppling of the theocratic regime in Tehran.
MP Romeo Nicoara said in a speech: "What we all in this room really want is a regime change in Iran in order to bring freedom and democracy to all people in Iran. We need a safe place for refugees in Camp Liberty. We need to provide them with protection and a place to live their lives in dignity and safety.
"What happened in Camp Ashraf on September 1 is nothing but crime against humanity which deserves a rapid investigation by an independent fact finding committee and certainly not by the Iraqi government that is responsible for the massacre.
"This is a crime which needs to be reviewed in the international court in The Hague. It is a disgrace for humanity.
"Is it really so hard for the UN and western governments to take an action to release the hostages and show the Iraqi government and Iranian regime that such barbaric acts are not tolerated? Is it really so difficult for the UN to tell the dictators that justice takes no consideration and no matter what the interests are the accountability is still there?
"What is left of the international declaration of human rights, charter of the UN or international laws and conventions like Geneva Convention? Have they been trampled by some dictator or government watching them to do so? The citizens are massacred while they are protected by the fourth Geneva Convention."
He added: "I think the only long term solution for resolving this problem is to change the Iranian regime."
Romanian MP Maria Grecea added: "As a woman, I am particularly honored to be part of this campaign which is headed by a brave woman like Mrs Maryam Rajavi. I hope that you and the Iranian people will very soon celebrate your final victory and her arrival in Tehran. "
Mrs Grecea said she had seven key demands for change in Iran:
First, to condemn the severe human rights violations, in particularly the suppression of women and youths.
Second, to condemn the Ashraf massacre committed by Iraq at the behest of Iranian regime.
Third, to condemn the Iranian regime’s meddling in Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine and other Muslim countries.
Fourth, to condemn the Iranian regime’s support for Bashar Assad in Syria.
Fifth, to support the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) and the National Council of Resistance of Iran in their struggle for a free Iran.
Sixth, to send UN Blue Helmet troops to Camp Liberty to protect residents from further deadly attacks
Seven, to condemn Iran's nuclear ambitions and urge the European Union to impose more pressure and sanctions on the regime.
She added: "Mrs. Maryam Rajavi we are standing beside you and I hope very much that we will be able to tell you in the future conferences about important steps we have taken from bringing freedom to Iran and security for Iranian freedom fighters in Camp Liberty."
