At the end of 2018, Maryam Rajavi, the president-elect of the Iranian Resistance gave an important message to supporters of freedom and democracy in Iran and across the world about the very real possibility that Iran will be free at some point in 2019.
Maryam Rajavi began her speech with a message to Christians, both in Iran where they are heavily persecuted and around to the world, on the occasion of Christmas; offering her sincere congratulations upon the holiday and praising both Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary for their sacrifices.
Of Jesus, Maryam Rajavi said, “He was the messenger of compassion and friendship. He used to say, ‘whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me’ (Matthew 25: 35-40). Christ set a tradition that showed men that they could be privileged by sacrificing for others. He said, ‘Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends’ (John 15: 9-17).”
From this, we can clearly see that Maryam Rajavi lives the true message of Jesus, which is living to serve others, protecting those who are persecuted, advocating for justice, and being prepared to lay your life for humanity. Maryam Rajavi is often falsely maligned by the mullahs for her work, but this will not stop her from advocating for peace on earth and freedom for the Iranian people.
Maryam Rajavi said, “Today the ogre of oppression, fraud, vengeance and cruelty, which is the Velayat-e Faqih regime, is at war with the emancipating messages of Christ, Mohammad and all the prophets of God. But the impetus and force of those messages and the enormous power of the people who thirst for emancipation and freedom will turn this dark page in the history of Iran and the world. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
Maryam Rajavi reflected on 2018, which saw Iran plagued by internal disputes and mass protest, and declared that the Regime was simply unable to solve the problems that will lead to its overthrow.
Maryam Rajavi said, “The year that is coming to its end, was the year when the mullahs’ dictatorship was surrounded by the Iranian people’s incessant uprisings and protest movements. It was a year of unprecedented deterioration of the regime’s unsolvable dilemmas, and a year when our persistent and organized Resistance against the mullahs’ religious fascism will be on the rise.”
Maryam Rajavi advised that the start of 2019 would bring great change to the world, not least to Iran, which would see only more uprisings against the Regime and more widespread protests that will shake the mullahs to their core. This, Maryam Rajavi said, would be the end of the mullahs and bring freedom and victory to the Iranian people and their Resistance.
Maryam Rajavi said, “I call on the people of the world to support the Iranian people’s resistance and uprising to overthrow despotism, religious discrimination, and a regime which is the central banker of terrorism and the enemy of peace and freedom in the region and the world.”
