Munich: Protests against presence of Iran’s Foreign Minister at Security conference

By INU Staff

INU- Outside the Munich Security Conference in Germany this weekend, a large number of Iranians and supporters of the main Iranian opposition gathered to protest against the attendance of Javad Zarif – the Iranian Foreign Minister.

The protesters called on the international community to denounce his presence there. The Iranian Foreign Minister is part of the Iranian regime’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) and he has declared on countless occasions that the Supreme Leader of Iran – Ayatollah Ali Khamenei – approves the regime’s activities across the region.

This involves Iran’s support of the following: Houthi rebels in Yemen, Syrian President Bashar al Assad and his regime, the Lebanese Hezbollah group and the pro-Iran militias in Iraq.

Zarif spoke at the Munich Security Conference, calling on Europe to provide Iran with further concessions
.
The Iranian Foreign regime has been involved with the planning of terrorist activities on European soil in the past 12 months. One of these was a plot to bomb the Free Iran rally during the summer of last year just outside Paris. This plot alone could have killed or injured thousands of members of the Iranian opposition.

The aim of the Munich Security Conference is to work towards the resolution of conflicts in the most peaceful way possible. It aims to do so through “sustaining a continuous, curated and informal dialogue within the international security community”. Iran represents the greatest threat to peace and security, especially in the Middle East, so that fact that Zarif was even there, never mind the fact that he was asking for concessions, is completely against the aim of the event.

The people protesting outside the conference, many of whom are members or supporters of the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), voiced their support of the “Resistance Units” in Iran that are currently uprising against the clerical regime.
The protesters called for Iran’s terrorist activities in the U.S. and Europe to be condemned and they said that the notorious Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) and the Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) must be designated as terrorist organisations.

The protesters also called on the international community to support the Iranian opposition coalition that is led by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi – the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI). They emphasised that it is the only viable democratic alternative. Mrs. Rajavi has established a ten-point plan for a future Iran to guarantee rights and freedom for all.

The Iranian regime, for decades, has violated the human rights of the people of Iran. Executions are carried out systematically for arbitrary reasons and the people are arrested, tortured, imprisoned or even executed for taking to the streets and protesting against the cruel and misogynistic regime.

The international community needs to come together and work towards ending the Iranian regime’s reign of terror. It is a threat to all – not just its closest neighbours in the region. The fact that the Iranian regime will brazenly plan terrorist attacks on European soil cannot be ignored.
