Iran Regime Is All but Done

By INU Staff

INU - After 40 years of despotic rule, Iran is at a critical point and the downfall of the Regime seems almost imminent. Even the mullahs recent attacks on oil tankers, Saudi Arabia, and US interests in Iraq look like the actions of a desperate ruler who sees that their power will be taken away at any moment.

There are three main reasons for the sudden decline of the Iranian Regime: domestic unrest, a legitimate opposition, and international sanctions. Let’s look at those.

The majority of Iranians hate the mullahs with every fibre of their being, opposing discrimination, international isolation, oppression, and the failing economy that the Regime has brought. That’s why, at the end of 2017, an uprising spread across Iran, with the people recognising that the mullahs are the root of all problems and that their lives will be infinitely better without the mullahs. They have been spurred along by the “Resistance Units” and underground popular councils of the Iranian opposition group, the Mujahedin-e-Khalq (MEK).

The Iranian Resistance has long called for tougher US policy on Iran, including oil sanctions, an arms embargo, and the terrorist designation of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), but only recently has the West begun to wake up. The US has now led the charge, but the rest of the world still needs to follow.

But who to replace the mullahs with? After all, no one wants to create a power vacuum in the Middle East. Well, that’s simple. The National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), a democratic coalition of anti-regime groups, has served as Iran’s parliament-in-exile for decades and has a plan for a six-month transitional period after the fall of the mullahs. During that time, the NCRI will draft a constitution and hold fair elections for a national assembly.

All of this has led to infighting among the mullahs, who are prepared to blame each other for the crises, but not recognise that the blame lies with every corrupt, lying, abusive member of the Iranian Regime. Now, we can see that the pressure is causing public arguments between Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and President Hassan Rouhani.

Meanwhile, the mullahs’ propaganda machine has started to stress once again the false narrative that there is no alternative to the Regime. The idea is to make Western powers terrified of the instability that could break out if the Regime falls, in order to convince the West to save the Regime. All of this is pure desperation.

The NCRI’s Mohammad Mohaddessin wrote: “The winds of change are blowing. An indigenous alternative, backed by the Iranian people, will ensure that the regime is overthrown. The resulting democratic future will enrich an Iran that is so eager to make positive and long-lasting contributions to the international community.”
