Maryam Rajavi on The 1988 MEK Massacre: Part 2

Maryam Rajavi spoke in the Free Iran rally at Ashraf 3, the Albanian headquarters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK), there was a conference entitled "1988 Massacre in Iran"

Earlier this year, during the Free Iran rally at Ashraf 3, the Albanian headquarters of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI, Mujahedin-e Khalq or MEK), there was a conference entitled “1988 Massacre in Iran, Perpetrators must be tried”.

During the conference, several former MEK political prisoners and survivors of the massacre of 30,000 political prisoners gave moving testimonies about the torture they endured under the mullahs’ security forces.

The conference, broadcast live in four different languages in July, also featured an address by Maryam Rajavi, the President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, and the founder of the movement for Justice for the Victims of the 1988 Massacre in Iran (JVMI). We’ve looked at the Mrs. Rajavi’s speech in detail, starting with the immediate aftermath of the massacre and now we’ll move onto Rajavi’s call for action.

Rajavi addressed that it was long overdue that the United Nations form an international fact-finding mission with regard to the 1988 Massacre of the MEK, especially when the perpetrators still enjoy immunity and high-ranking positions, such as the head of the Judiciary. Regime founder Ruhollah Khomeini ordered the 1988 Massacre because he wanted to obliterate the MEK, which was the sole reason for deploying his killing machine in several areas, especially Evin and Gohardasht prisons, where the majority of MEK political prisoners were being held.

She noted that the Iranian Regime still conducts an extensive and costly demonization campaign against the MEK in order to tarnish the image of their victims in the eyes of the world and attempt to justify their horrific crimes. That’s why the Regime spends vast sums on websites and newspapers run by the mullahs and journalists at foreign press organizations, which all spread lies about the MEK, including blaming them for the Regime’s crimes. The sole purpose of this campaign is to wash the hands of the Iranian mullahs so that foreign business leaders can feel good about trading with them.

Rajavi said: “History is the best judge, time will move on, Iranian people and their resistance MEK will topple this regime, the perpetrators of the 1988 massacre will be held accountable in international courts, but the remaining question is would those who white-washed those crimes also be held accountable? As it comes to those longing to do business with Iran at any cost, it should be said that such business is called “bad business”, since they invested in the blood of the Iranian people.”

She said that the world must end this practice and support the Iranian people in their call for justice.

Rajavi said: “I call on all Iranians in Iran and abroad to help advance and expand the Call-for-Justice movement for the victims of the 1988 Massacre. This is the movement of the oppressed, the suppressed and the bereaved.”

Rajavi also said that the world must recognize the right of the Iranian people to resist and overthrow the mullahs’ religious dictatorship, noting that history does not side with dictators.
