The Government of Iraq refuses to hand over the bodies of the martyrs of fourth missile attack on Camp Liberty
- Published: Thursday, 13 March 2014
The Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran issued a statement regarding the Camp Liberty:
The Ashraf suppression committee in the Iraqi Prime Ministry, in an inhuman and unislamic act, has been refusing for five months the handing over and burial of the body of Hamid Shakeri, who died on October 13, 2013 in a Baghdad hospital, This is while the investigative Judge of the Court in Al Karkh has long issued the permit for his burial.
The committee also prevents the burial of the bodies of four martyrs of December 26, 2013 missile attack on Liberty, Mohammad Najafi, Mohammad Saleh Tehrani, Mahmoud Bornafar and Yahya Ziarati, for 2.5 months. Repeated requests by representatives of residents to the Liberty police station and UNAMI monitors have been futile so far.
Earlier, forces under Maliki refused to hand over the bodies of 52 PMOI members, who were martyred in the Ashraf of September 1, 2013 in Ashraf, to their families in Liberty and in order to eliminate signs of crime against humanity, secretly buried these bodies in an unknown location.
The Iranian Resistance calls on the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the High Commissioner for Refugees, the High Commissioner for Human Rights and U.S. officials to take immediate action to end these inhumane actions of the Iraqi government, actions that violate many international treaties which make respecting the dead bodies binding.
