Maryam Rajavi: The Iranian year 1392 was a year of consecutive failures for the Supreme Leader and a year of momentum and achievement for the Iranian Resistance, and 1393 will be a year of uprising.
The President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, has issued a message to the Iranian people both inside and outside of Iran on the occasion of the Persian New Year "Nowruz." Mrs. Rajavi congratulated the people of Iran, political prisoners, members of the NCRI, supporters of the Iranian Resistance and the freedom fighters residing in Camp Liberty, Iraq, and prayed for the arrival of the spring of freedom and prosperity for the Iranian people, and an Iran that is free of suppression, executions, poverty and oppression.
She described the previous year in the Persian calendar (ending on March 20, 2014) as a year in which the velayat-e faqih regime (absolute clerical rule) faced consecutive failures and a year of momentum and achievement for the Iranian Resistance, and 1393 as the year of uprisings by conveying the message of Ashraf to the world.
Mrs. Rajavi said: The mullahs planned to annihilate and destroy the Iranian people's Resistance. But, instead, they themselves succumbed to drinking from the chalice of poison that will lead to their ultimate overthrow.
Throughout the year, workers, students, and other disenchanted parts of Iranian society resorted to protests, strikes, closing roads or staging protest gatherings in front of regime institutions.
The protests and uprisings of the Bakhtiaris in Khuzestan, Kohkilouye-va-Boyer Ahmad, and Isfahan, coupled with the courageous uprising of the Dervishes on the brink of the New Year as well of uprisings during the Fire Festival on the last days of the year, represented parts of the hurricane of anger and disenchantment that is swirling at the heart of Iranian society. All that the regime's Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, had done in the aftermath of the 2009 uprisings to shut people's mouths and cut off their tongues has failed.
Mrs. Rajavi also pointed to the inhumane attacks and pressures by the regime and its puppet government in Iraq against the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) in camps Ashraf and Liberty, and said: Over the past year, in the face of the massacres and crimes against humanity committed in Ashraf, and despite the intentions of the enemy, Ashraf became eternal, and the credibility, reputation and popularity of Ashraf, the residents of Ashraf and the entire Iranian Resistance, were reinforced.
Both Iran and the entire world were shaken and shocked by the brutality of the enemy during the massacre of September 1, 2013, which was juxtaposed with the self-sacrifices of the Ashrafi heroes who dedicated their lives.
In particular, the Iranian people saw and discovered once more the individuals who have remained loyal to the ideal of freedom. They also noticed who Khamenei and the remnants of Khomeini's regime consider as the biggest threat to their regime.
The people of Iran and the world saw the beating heart of perseverance against religious tyranny and the cure to fundamentalism in the Ashrafis.
Moreover, these freedom-fighters conquered new horizons when it comes to perseverance and determination in the face of several rounds of missile attacks against Camp Liberty.
The body of the Iranian Resistance has been drenched in blood on many occasions. Nonetheless, the Resistance has remained steadfast and strong while resurrecting the historical will and determination of the Iranian people to obtain freedom and liberty.
The President-elect of the Iranian Resistance added: The crown jewels of the Resistance's accomplishments over the past year and the standards of our progress in the coming year are struggle, perseverance, commitment, and determination, which would be a hundred times stronger, in order to achieve the overthrow of the mullahs and to obtain freedom.
In another part of her New Year's message, Mrs. Rajavi added: The developments of the previous year confirmed that in contrast to the perseverance and gains of the Iranian people's Resistance, the poison of defeat ran through the entire regime.
Khamenei faced defeat during the regime's sham presidential elections in June. This marked a defeat for the entirety of a regime that cannot preserve its balance of power without closing ranks and adopting a policy of complete contraction.
The clerical regime also faced defeat in its greatest and costliest strategic and political project, its nuclear program, which it has continued for the past 25 years. It was thus forced to sign the Geneva nuclear accord in November 2013.
The clerical regime failed in turning the situation in Iraq in favor of its puppet government there. And it is now faced with the uprising and armed perseverance of the people in al-Anbar province.
The mullahs in Iran have also failed to prevent the economic collapse of the country, which has dealt heavy blows to their regime.
Mrs. Rajavi added: In addition to all of these factors, consider the social appetite to bring about fundamental change as well as the existence of a democratic alternative and organized movement, to which the enemy itself repeatedly refers. This is a sign that the regime is in the final stage of being overthrown.
Mrs. Rajavi pointed to the readiness of the Iranian people's Resistance to expand the scope of their struggle and fight to obtain freedom, stressing: As the New Year beings, let us once again express our vast and unshakeable commitment to the overthrow of the velayat-e faqih regime in its entirety and to free and liberate our homeland Iran.
