Guliani: Regime change in Iran is essentially US policy

He made it clear that, despite acting as a lawyer for Donald Trump, he was not speaking on behalf of the administration.

He said: “This is my own position. It happens to be consistent with the administration position. Some people in the administration describe it a little differently, they say they would like to see a change in behaviour.”

Giuliani said that this is a distinction without a difference, citing comments from the National Security Advisor John Bolton that the Iranian Regime isn’t going to change, so a change in behaviour can only mean a change in regime.

These comments have inspired hope amongst those in the Iranian Resistance, namely the National Council for the Resistance of Iran (NCRI), that the US will permanently end the policy of appeasement towards the mullahs and embrace regime change.

After all, Giuliani and Bolton have both spoken publically about regime change in Iran in the past and now they have the ear of the president.

This is the best shot that the Iranian Resistance has ever had for regime change supported by the international community, as well as the Iranian people.

Nuclear deal
The US policy on Iran changed when Trump pulled out of the nuclear deal, but some people are still fighting to save the deal that keeps the Regime in play.

Former Secretary of State John Kerry is reported to have violated the Logan Act for meeting with the Iranian Regime and advising them not to make any rash decisions about the nuclear deal; rather wait until Trump leaves office.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said: “What Secretary Kerry has done is unseemly and unprecedented. It’s inconsistent with what the foreign policy of the United States is, as directed by this president. It is beyond inappropriate.”

NCRI rally
Giuliani addressed the NCRI’s annual convention in New York on Saturday, joined by former George W. Bush Attorney General Michael Mukasey and President Barack Obama’s first national security advisor retired General James Jones.

This came shortly ahead of the UN General Assembly, where Trump will largely focus on the Iranian Regime in his position as head of the UN Security Council – the presidency is rotated regularly between the five permanent countries in the UNSC – and Iranian president Hassan Rouhani will address how US sanctions are affecting Iran.
