Maryam Rajavi Calls for Justice for 1988 Massacre Victims: Part 2

Although Massoud Rajavi is being attacked from all sides by his enemies, there will come a day when his dreams of a free Iran will come true.

During her speech at Free Iran Global Summit in July, the opposition president, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi called yet again for justice for the victims of the 1988 massacre of political prisoners. Here, we will examine that speech.

In our last part, we covered the fatwa of Ruhollah Khomeini, the Resistance this sparked among the people, the many calls for justice that have resulted in one Death Committee member being denied the presidency among other things, and the Iranian regime’s plots to destroy the Resistance over their revelations.

Now, we will discuss the regime’s attacks on the Iranian people, and the response from international politicians.

Maryam Rajavi explained that earlier this year, the regime had been arresting defiant young people and the families of Resistance members en-masse, as a form of suppression because they see these people as “sleeper cells” that are multiplying and waiting to revolt. (Something that has continued to this day.)

The Health Minister even admitted that this was all to do with preventing future protests, which are the result of “poverty and destitution”. Maryam Rajavi said that even the regime is admitting that their rule is nearly over, so they are forced to attack the Resistance.

Maryam Rajavi linked this back to the massacre of prisoners in 1988, killed to prevent future protests.

Iran Protest Will Continue Until Victory

“The sacred blood of those martyrs, particularly those slain in 1988, are today roaring in Iran, giving rise to generation after generation of rebellious youths who are motivated and inspired by it… The [People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran] PMOI/MEK members, who walked to the gallows and sacrificed their lives by the thousands for the cause of freedom, are now the topic of discussion in the Iranian society,” she said.

Maryam Rajavi cited a statement by American personalities over the 1988 massacre, where they called for the regime to be held accountable.

“We recommend that countries that have been victimized by Iranian-government sponsored terrorism, including the US and its European allies, send teams of experts to study the evidence at Ashraf 3 [the Resistance headquarters in Albania] while organizing their own evidence for eventual use in international tribunal proceedings,” they wrote.

“The issue at stake in Iran is resistance for freedom, people’s universal suffrage, and a sovereign republic in place of the rule of the mullahs and religious dictatorship. For 40 years, the mullahs have been viciously crucifying the [PMOI/MEK] and the Iranian Resistance, particularly Massoud Rajavi, every day with the barrage of their lies and unfounded allegations, just like they killed and tortured our people and barbarically destroyed Iran,” the NCRI President-elect said.

She advised that Massoud’s name inspires “rebellion” and causes more people to come over to the fight for freedom, just as it has inspired resistance for 40 long years.

“Although he is being attacked from all sides by his enemies, there will come a day when his dreams of a free Iran will come true. Yes, the day will come when the flowers of freedom and popular sovereignty will bloom in Iran. And that day will certainly come. Hail to the martyrs. Long live freedom,” Maryam Rajavi added.
