The teachers, including an impressive number of female teachers, chanted: “Our suffering is your suffering, people join us”, “Teachers are in jail, plunderers are at large”, “Detained teachers must be released” and “Workers, teachers, unite, unite”. Many teachers also carried placards reading, “Free and quality education is the just right of all Iranian children” and “Teachers’ salary is one-third of that of poverty line”.

Maryam Rajavi said that the teachers protested in the cities of Tehran, Mashhad, Kermanshah, Tabriz, Ahvaz, Sanandaj, Isfahan, Yazd, Urumieh, Qazvin, Shiraz, Karaj, Arak, Hamedan, Ardebil, Sari, Khoram-Abad, Rasht, Ilam, Mahabad, Marivan, Kamyaran, Javanroud, Divandareh, Islam-Abad, Qorveh, Torbat Heydarieh, Mamasani, Boukan, Dehkalan, Saqez, Aligoudarz, Doroud and many more besides.

Maryam Rajavi said that teachers in Kermanshah chanted “astronomic wages, public poverty”, “decent life, dignity, our just right” and “all this injustice has never been seen by any nation”, those in Karaj chanted “Leave alone Syria, think of us”, “we would not back off before getting back our right,” and “teachers are not asleep, they hate discrimination”, and those in Ahvaz carried placards with slogans “no to class difference, discrimination and injustice”, “teachers are not asleep, they hate injustice.”

Maryam Rajavi noted that suppressive forces tried to disperse the protesters in Tehran but face resistance from the crowd. She said that a number of protesters were arrested.

Maryam Rajavi praised the “freedom-seeking teachers” who are demonstrating to achieve their most basic rights. She then called on the public, especially students and young people, to support the teachers and their just demands.

Maryam Rajavi also asked international human rights organization and teachers’ unions to condemn the Iranian regime for their treatment of the teachers and to take action to ensure that that arrested and detained teachers were released immediately and unconditionally.

This call came just one day after Maryam Rajavi urged on the Iranian people and the international community to take action to free the workers arrested for their protests on International Worker’s Day, which occurred on May 1.

Maryam Rajavi said that large numbers of workers demonstrated  against the Regime’s anti-worker policies by gathering in front of the mullahs’ parliament chanting slogans “Workers, teachers, students, unite, unite”, “High prices, inflation, our people’s plague”, “Government traitor, parliament supporter”,” Our pain is your pain, O people join us”.

Maryam Rajavi explained that the security forces beat and arrested protesters, who started chanting “Shame on you, shame on you” and “Don’t be afraid, we are all together”.

Maryam Rajavi said: “In spite of pressures and anti-worker policies of the mullahs’ regime, workers and toilers of Iran will neither rest nor surrender; they have shown as much with their protests and uprisings over the past year. They can rely on the ongoing support and solidarity of women, youth, students and all the disenchanted sectors of Iranian society. “
