Jones, a member of the British Parliamentary Committee for Iran Freedom, began by expressing his heartfelt sympathies to Maryam Rajavi with regards to the devastating floods in Iran that have claimed almost 300 lives so far. He asked Maryam Rajavi to pass his comments about the floods on to the Iranian people, who are suffering greatly with no help from the mullahs.

Jones urged the British government to condemn the Regime’s lack of relief efforts (i.e. bringing aid to affected areas, rescuing victims) and especially their repressive measures against the people who have been erecting flood barriers in an attempt to save their cities.

Maryam Rajavi said: “The Iranian regime has not taken any serious steps to aid the people faced with this national disaster and unprecedented tragedy, and has instead given priority to preventing justified protests in these areas.”

Maryam Rajavi has urged the Iranian people to help each other because the Regime won’t and they have responded incredibly.

Jones then took the time to once again express his support for Maryam Rajavi and the Iranian resistance movement and their brave quest to bring democracy and popular rule to Iran.

He said: “It has been a great privilege to meet with [Maryam Rajavi] and the members of this resistance in Albania in a city that you have built here. I am impressed by the work and efforts of the member of the [Iranian Resistance]. They have dedicated all of their lives to the struggle for freedom.”

Jones then spoke about the need to designate the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist entity, something that Maryam Rajavi has been saying for years. He said that the designation is needed to ensure peace and stability flourish in the Middle East, while support for terrorism crumbles, because the IRGC are a threat to the world at large.  He asked the UK and the EU not to remain silent, but rather take effective measures against the Regime’s domestic repression and export of terrorism.

Maryam Rajavi also emphasised why the IRGC, which is the main tool for the mullahs’ domestic suppression and export of terrorism and fundamentalism, must be listed as a terrorist organization.

Maryam Rajavi noted that the Iranian Resistance has declared on many occasions that the IRGC in its entirety needs to be listed as a terrorist group in order to improve peace, stability, and security in the Middle East.

It is worth noting that two days after this meeting, the US designated the IRGC as a terrorist group, but the UK and EU have yet to follow suit.

Jones also explained the Iranian regime has been demonising Maryam Rajavi and the Iranian Resistance because they are terrified of the people’s uprising that supports Maryam Rajavi becoming the president of Iran.
