During this protest against the Iranian Regime, the leader of the Iranian Resistance, Maryam Rajavi, gave an inspiring and rousing speech about the Iranian people’s uprising, which began in December 2017, and how now was the time to overthrow the Regime.
Maryam Rajavi said: “With the overthrow of the Shah’s corrupt dictatorship and his regime of torture, his true successors, namely Khomeini and Khamenei, took over the helms. Our people faced a whirlpool of horror and darkness which they had to go through in order to achieve freedom… Today, we are hopeful and we can see the signs of victory culminated in the uprisings and protests throughout the past year.”
Maryam Rajavi then paid tribute to those who led the anti-monarchic revolution in 1979, which was later usurped by the mullahs, and all of the Resistance members who have lost their lives in the past 40 years trying to secure the freedom promised by that revolution. She also paid tribute to those who were arrested, arbitrarily killed, or tortured to death during the Regime’s crackdown on the latest uprising.
Maryam Rajavi told the crowd: “You convey the cries of all Iranians against tyranny and dependence. You are the voice of all Iranians who call for the overthrow of the clerical regime and demand the establishment of a republic, based on democracy and separation of religion and state. From here, we would send our warmest greetings to the protesters in Iran, to the freedom fighters of the resistance units, and the standard bearers of freedom all across the nation.”
Maryam Rajavi then asked the international community to respect the Iranian people’s fight for freedom and recognise their goal of liberating Iran and the world from the tyranny of the mullahs, advising that Western governments abandon their appeasement policy, which has only emboldened the mullahs and recognise the Iranian Resistance.
Maryam Rajavi stressed that the international community, specifically the US and Europe, must blacklist the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS) and the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), both of which are used in the mullahs’ terrorist schemes, but also to suppress the Iranian Resistance.
If the world continues with its appeasement policy, Maryam Rajavi warns that it will prolong the suffering of the people of Iran and the Middle East, as well as increase terrorism in Europe and the US.
Maryam Rajavi said: “The Iranian people and Resistance do not want this regime to have any bullets, or sell any barrel of oil, or spend a single dollar of the Iranian nation’s wealth on suppression and terrorism. The objective of the Iranian people and their Resistance is to overthrow the regime in its entirety. The goal is freedom, democracy, and the sovereignty of our people’s republic.”
