Maryam Rajavi’s Speech on Iran’s Warmongering: Part 2

Here, we will examine Maryam Rajavi’s comments of how appeasement has only helped the Iranian Regime to increase and intensify its warmongering and terrorism.

Maryam Rajavi notes that the 2015 nuclear accord, which gave Iran sanctions relief and international legitimacy, helped the Regime continue its warmongering, as she had predicted it would, but that political and commercial partners of the mullahs’ rule were determined to cover it up.

Maryam Rajavi said: “On the day of the signing of that agreement, I emphasized on behalf of the Iranian Resistance, that in order to avoid war in the region, the [deal’s signatories] should … firmly insist on evicting the regime from the Middle East and prevent its interferences all over the region. This is a fundamental necessity that needs to be included in any agreement as a foundational principle.”

Maryam Rajavi reiterated that sentiment to the European Parliament in December 2017, saying that the mullahs would “inflict a deadly conflict on the region and the world” if they weren’t stopped.

Maryam Rajavi explained that while the agreement was supposed to block the mullahs’ path to nuclear weapons, the flaws allowed them to “spread war” and “suppress the opposition” because human rights and democracy were not a part of the deal. In fact, just one day after signing the deal, Iran test-fired missiles.

Maryam Rajavi then described a list of the Regime’s violations since the deal was signed:

• continued missile tests, which broke the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2231 that enshrines the nuclear deal

• providing missiles to terrorist groups in Yemen, Lebanon, and Iraq; including some that were fired from Yemen towards Saudi Arabia

• expansion of the war in Syria

• expansion of the war in Yemen

• increased meddling in Iraq

Maryam Rajavi said: “The conclusion is that the mullahs’ terrorism and warmongering, coupled with their demonization of the Mojahedin, intensified and expanded precisely during the period that the policy of appeasement was intensifying.”

Maryam Rajavi spoke about the wrongful appeasement the West showed to the Regime during the 1980s, 1990s, and early 2000s, which saw the handover of missiles that were use to destroy Iraq, the false terrorist designation of the Iranian Resistance, hundreds of terrorist attacks, and attacks on the Resistance by the US.

Maryam Rajavi said: “I’d like to stress on this fundamental reality that the mullahs’ intransigent posture in international relations is just a hollow show of force… At home, the mullahs derive their “power” from executing, torturing and suppressing the defenceless population. Abroad, they act with impunity because no one has challenged their warmongering and terrorism… I must emphasize that overthrowing this regime is the sole responsibility of the Iranian people, the great army of liberation, the Resistance and Units of Rebellion.”
