Maryam Rajavi Speech on MEK 55th Anniversary: Part 2

Maryam Rajavi: The two dictatorships are not all that different, and the people of Iran are the ones suffering

At the beginning of September, the Iranian Resistance marked the 55th anniversary of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) with a special ceremony at the MEK’s compound, known as Ashraf 3 in Albania.

Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the opposition president-elect was the keynote speaker of this event. It is her speech which we will cover in this short series. In this part, we will look further at Maryam Rajavi’s comments on the MEK’s founding, Massoud Rajavi’s leadership, and how the mullahs are terrified of the Resistance.

The Shah was overthrown in 1979 and the mullahs took his place, but even though they seem to be on different sides, the two dictatorships are not all that different, and the people of Iran are the ones suffering. The reason being that the true alternative – the MEK and the Nationalist movement headed by former Prime Minister Mossadeq – was destroyed by the Shah’s thugs and the colonial powers of Britain and America, respectively.

Maryam Rajavi said: “What we say is that “revolution” is essential to progress and is the dynamic force of evolution. The problem was never the revolution itself. The problem was the lack of an alternative. The problem was in the leadership of the revolution, not the revolution per se.”

New Iranian Revolution Is Coming

She advised that the Shah’s followers are still proud of his crimes and support the mullahs over the MEK, which shows just how misguided it is to put a false distinction between the two.

Maryam Rajavi said: “[The need for a true alternative] is the first lesson we learned from the antimonarchic revolution. Massoud Rajavi developed this theory and advanced our understanding of it. Then, he offered the solution to this problem to the people of Iran. The solution was the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) [a parent coalition of the MEK and other dissident groups]as the only democratic and independent alternative.”

She stressed that MEK founder Mohammad Hanifnejad had previously stressed the need for revolutionary theory and ideology in order to stage a revolution and that today the regime has admitted that the Resistance’s structure is a growing threat to the regime.

Maryam Rajavi advised that over the past 55 years, the MEK and the Iranian people have struggled and sacrificed more than most people will ever know, but they have fought back with righteous strength and they will win.

She said: “This is why the Shah and the mullahs, as well as their accomplices, followers and allies, so hysterically despise the PMOI/MEK and their ideology.”

Indeed, the dictators have tried to smear the MEK in any way possible but it has not worked and the Iranian people will never submit to this suppression of freedom and the abuse of the MEK.

Maryam Rajavi said: “In the resolutions adopted by the NCRI regarding the separation of religion and state, it is stated [that] no citizens shall enjoy privileges or be subject to deprivations in respect of nomination for election, voting, employment, education, becoming a judge, or any other individual or social rights, on the grounds of belief or non-belief in a particular religion or faith. Similarly, the people of Iran, women, and men, must choose the new republic based on their own free, equal, and direct vote.”
