Maryam Rajavi said: “The mullahs have devastated our homeland, but we will take it back and we will rebuild this most beautiful country.”

She explained that this journey to free Iran from the mullahs began on June 20, 1981, when Resistance Leader Massoud Rajavi founded the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI) and the National Liberation Army of Iran (NLA) to fight the mullahs and liberate the people.
Since then, the Resistance has fought many battles, suffered much hardship, and seen much bloodshed, but they’ve continued to fight.
Maryam Rajavi said: “On this path, we endured ten years of blood-drenched perseverance at the besieged Camp Ashraf and another four years full of determination at a slaughterhouse called Camp Liberty [in Iraq]. Now, this marks another chapter in a great march towards freedom, towards a free Iran, towards a glorious destination, of course after undergoing enormous suffering and dedicating a roaring river of the martyrs’ blood.”
One year after the resistance began; Massoud Rajavi had stated that for a nation to truly be free, it must throw off its oppressors on its own, which is one of the key tenants of the Iranian Resistance. They don’t want another country to fight their battles, only to stop defending the regime.
Maryam Rajavi then began to speak about how the past 40 years of the mullahs’ rule is basically an all-out massacre, highlighting specifically the 1988 massacre of 30,000 political prisoners. However, she noted that the regime was not just massacring people, but the actual culture and economy of Iran.
Maryam Rajavi said: “Now, the mullahs’ religious fascism has reached the end of the line and is struggling to survive a crisis leading to its overthrow. The economic devastation, elimination of over 70 percent of industrial capacity, a ruined banking sector, the monthly exodus of some $3 billion worth of capital, and the ceaseless free fall of the value of the national currency, cannot be contained.”
This quote, which describes what led to the current situation, could easily be from yesterday or last week. It shows that the regime was always heading this way and that the mullahs couldn’t stop it.
Maryam Rajavi said: “The clerical regime is at an impasse. It neither has the capability to negotiate, abandon terrorism or stop meddling in the region nor does it have any space to maneuver as it did during the appeasement era.”
In fact, she pointed out that Iranian regime’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei had likened negotiations with the US to taking poison, especially with the current administration, because any change in the regime’s behavior could well lead to regime change as it would undermine the regime’s twin pillars of domestic repression and regional aggression.
