In 2018, the Dutch government also expelled two Iranian diplomats from the country but refused to say whether the decision was linked to the assassinations.

This led to the first EU sanctions against the Iranian Regime since the 2015 nuclear deal was signed three years ago, which were welcomed by an Iranian Resistance group, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK). The MEK said in a statement that this is a “positive but important step in the face of the regime’s state terrorism”.

You see, this was no rogue agent ordering an isolated hit. It is simply how the Iranian Regime operates, hiring criminal gangs to assassinate political dissidents, something recently explained by the Dutch government, but warned of for years by the MEK.

The Netherlands is just one of many European nations that are now publically warning about the dangers that the Iranian Regime poses within their country. Germany is currently preparing additional sanctions on Iran after an Iranian spy was found in the German military, but back in October, Denmark was telling the world that the Iranian Regime was responsible for an assassination attempt on an Iranian dissident there.

Before that, the Regime tried to bomb an annual Iran Freedom rally held in Paris by the MEK and attended by over 100,000 people, as well as a Persian New Year gathering in March at the MEK headquarters in Albania. Some 3,500 MEK members were welcomed to Albania in 2016 to avoid attacks from the Regime, but from what we know now, it looks like the MEK, and indeed the world, will never be safe so long as the Regime is in power.
Following those attempted attacks on the MEK, both France and Albania expelled Iranian diplomats.

Mohammad Mohaddessin, who is the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), a coalition of Iranian Resistance groups with the MEK as its biggest member, explained that in order to prevent the mullahs’ from supporting terrorism in Europe, the EU must blacklist Iran’s Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) and Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), as well as expel its agents and mercenaries.

He wrote: “[The] Mullahs must understand their terrorism will have grave consequences for their repressive regime.”
So far, the Regime has been appeased by the EU and other countries around the world, which has only led to more violence by empowered mullahs.

The MEK wrote: “The only way for a nation to truly ensure the safety of its citizens is to [expel] diplomats. Only through a complete cessation of Iranian diplomatic activities in Europe can EU nations protect their citizens from the ever-present threat of terrorism and murder.”
