Tremendous Support for Iranian Resistance and Renewed Calls for Overthrow of Regime

The speakers gave their support to Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the leader of the Resistance, and paid tribute to the many people that have died during the course of the movement. They expressed their hope that with the emergence of a new geopolitical era in the Middle East, things will continue to move in the right direction for the people of Iran.

The consensus among the speakers was that the overthrow of the mullahs’ regime is the only way to move forward. Mrs. Rajavi has been calling for regime change for years so that the people of Iran can be free and to establish peace and tranquillity in the region.

Mrs. Rajavi believes that the overthrow of the regime is possible and is very close to happening. Many of the speakers highlighted that the Resistance is the only popular, organised and democratic alternative.

The regime has, for decades, spread propaganda about the Resistance, however this has not managed to change the fact that it is still the greatest threat to the regime. Society in Iran is on the point of eruption and will rise again like it did in 2009. The number of protests happening in Iran is rising, and last year alone there were more than 11,000.

The international community is now starting to realise that the Iranian regime is at the centre of all conflicts in the region and that it is the single-most dangerous threat to the world. The international community is dealing with its belligerence in the region, but very little attention is being paid to the human rights abuses it is carrying out.

Mrs. Rajavi pointed out that from the very beginning, the Iranian regime was at war with the people and that is the central war. The other wars being waged elsewhere in the region are to cover this up. She said: “From the outset, the regime was at war with the people of Iran. All the other wars waged against foreign countries were designed to cover up this main conflict. These wars are not a sign of the regime’s strength. The problem is that no government in the region has ever attempted to prevent the regime’s belligerence.”

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said that he wants to see Iran freed. He said that containment is appeasement, and appeasement is surrender, in reference to the way the former President Obama’s administration has been treating the Iranian regime.

Also speaking in support of the Resistance at the event were former Mayor of New York City Rudy Giuliani, the former chairman of the Democratic National Committee Governor Ed Rendell, Prince Turki bin Faisal Al Saud of the Saudi royal family, among others.

Many of the speakers expressed their wish to celebrate a free Iran in Tehran as soon as possible.
