At the break of dawn on Thursday and Saturday, five individuals, previously convicted on charges related to drug crimes, faced execution in Dastgerd prisons in Isfahan and Lakan in Rasht.

The identities of those executed in Isfahan on Saturday have been disclosed as Nouri Zamani, aged 32, hailing from Lahijan; Fathollah Jorkesh, aged 30, from Isfahan; and Hossein Ali Kutahi. These individuals were apprehended in separate cases involving drug crimes and received death sentences from the judicial authorities of Iran’s regime.

In contrast, on Thursday, two prisoners met their fate in Rasht’s Lakan prison. The executed individuals were identified as Eslahollah Bakhsh, a 36-year-old citizen of Afghanistan, and Hamid Ebadinejad, a native of Rasht.

According to statistics from 2023, a distressing total of 864 citizens, including 25 women and 2 juvenile offenders, faced execution. This represents an alarming increase of over 33 percent compared to the corresponding period in the previous year.
