US Lawmakers Remain Concerned About Iran Nuclear Issue

INU - On Thursday, 354 members of the US House of Representatives submitted a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry expressing concern over the lack of progress in the IAEA probe of the past military dimensions of Iran’s nuclear program. The effort was led by the chairman and the ranking member of House Foreign Affairs Committee, respectively a Republican and a Democrat, supported by the vast majority of House lawmakers.

Iran: Criticisms of Nuclear Talks from Israel, Elsewhere

INU - American President Barack Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met at the White House on Wednesday, for the first time since the 50-day war between Israel and Hamas. The meeting reportedly focused in large part on the threat posed by Iran, and on the issue of constraining the Islamic nation’s nuclear weapons development.

Divided American Perspectives on Iran threat

INU - While Benjamin Netanyahu’s comments about Iran at the UN General Assembly were predictable, one need not look to Israel for the perception that Iran is a threat to rival the Islamic State. That perspective has been repeatedly expressed by a number of American lawmakers, including Senator and possible Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz, who published an op-ed at Politico on Sunday harshly criticizing president Obama’s approach to diplomacy with Iran. Cruz emphasized that the IS situation does not diminish the importance of the Iran nuclear issue, the Washington Examiner reports.
