Iran Nuclear Proposals: Not Enough, or Too Much?

INU - The issue of Iran’s human rights record was raised by chief US nuclear negotiator Wendy Sherman in her latest comments about the talks between Iran and the P5+1. The various parties had been meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly this week, and Sherman reports that talks between Iran and the US “boil down to two things”: the nuclear issue and the Americans imprisoned in Iran, namely Pastor Saeed Abedini, former Marine Amir Hekmati, and Washington Post correspondent Jason Rezaian.

New Tone in Relations before New UN General Assembly

INU - In a report that may contradict the perception that relations between the two leaders have mutually grown more strained, Reuters quotes an unnamed US official as saying that President Barack Obama is still open to meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani during the UN General Assembly, even though no such meeting is scheduled. Previously, both Washington and Tehran issued statements explicitly pointing out that the two would not be meeting.

Iran: Preparing to Resume Nuclear Talks

INU - Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty reported on Wednesday that Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton were scheduled to meet for a working lunch in New York, in advance of the nuclear talks that are to resume on Thursday as a sideline to the meeting of the UN General Assembly.
