Iran is closer to nukes than we thought

The Institute for Science and International Security’s report says satellite imagery and information gathered during a raid on a Tehran warehouse in January show that Iran conducted “more high explosive tests related to nuclear weapons development” at Parchin than was previously thought by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The IAEA had said that Iran was merely involved in “feasibility and scientific studies”.

The report, written by watchdog director David Albright, IAEA former Deputy Director General Olli Heinonen and other top experts, said: “The information highlights dual-use, controlled equipment used at the site, such as a flash x-ray system utilizing a Marx generator and a variety of neutron measurement equipment, with electronics, designed to monitor high speed, explosively driven tests of a neutron source commonly used in a nuclear weapon.”

While the report is focused on Iran’s activities until 2003, the new knowledge, gathered from a site that was not disclosed to the IAEA, indicates that Iran could build a nuclear weapon much faster than the international community believed. Indeed, they have already overcome many obstacles that the IAEA didn’t believe they had.

The report read: “The additional evidence specifically mentions explosions and radioactivity at the Parchin site, and this information far more vividly establishes Iran’s nuclear weapons-related activities there.”

These findings also show that Iran consistently lied about its nuclear weapons programme and that it violated the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT) and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT), both of which Iran signed.
IRGC threats

This information was released after Iranian General Hossein Salami, second-in-command of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) force, threatened to destroy Israel and sparked fears of a major conflict breaking out in the powder keg region.

Salami said: “I tell the Prime Minister of the Zionist regime (Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu)that he should practice swimming in the Mediterranean. Because soon there will be no way to escape but the sea.”

The Iranian Regime continually refers to the Israeli Government as “the Zionist regime” in order to discredit and delegitimize their rule.

Salami claimed that Israel could be defeated by Iran-backed terror group Hezbollah, which currently has about 150,000 rockets and missiles stored away across Lebanon.

The terror group was already involved in a deadly war with Israel in 2006, during which thousands of rockets were fired at Israeli cities from southern Lebanon.
